Ok, no more kidding myself that the day I was caught for jaywalking never happened. I received the offence letter today in the mail and this is what it says:

Dear Sir/Madam,

NOTICE OF TRAFFIC OFFENCE

We would like to inform you that you have been reported for the following offence(s):

Date of Offence: 25 February 2005, 10:30a.m.
Place of Offence: Victoria Street

Offence(s):
You Yeow Minyi are charged that you on 25 February 2005 at about 10:30am.m. along Victoria Street Singapore, and at the junction of the said road failed to conform to the signalised traffic sign whilst making use of the pedestrian crossing to wit by crossing the said junction when the signal light was red and not in your favour an offence under rule 3(3) road traffic (pedestrian crossings) rules and punishable under section 121(6) (B) of the raod traffic act chapter 276.

You are being offered an opportunity to have the offence compounded for $20. We seek your co-operation in settling the payment promptly by the due date stated below. See overleaf for payment details and other important information.

Just realised after typing out the letter that this is the longest sentence I have ever read (under the offences section). Somehow, the traffic police have managed to make my simple act of jaywalking into such a long incoherent sentence of crime!

Conclusion
After much consideration, I have decided to take up their opportunity of having the offence compounded for $20. I will pay the fine at the AXS machine in school tomorrow.
